This year's Spring Outing on 17/18 April started at the UK's newest Test Ground. We were greeted at Glamorgan CCC's SWALEC Stadium and addressed by Andrew Hignell on "How the Ashes came to Cardiff" followed by a tour of the impressive new facilities. In the evening there was an optional coach trip into Cardiff, Mermaid Quay for members to arrange their own meal at any of the many restaurants in the area. After a free Saturday morning, the afternoon was spent at Castell Coch, near to Cardiff. This was a romantic folly built upon the remains of a genuine 13th century castle in the 1870's for the 3rd Marquis of Bute, supposedly reproducing a small medieval Welsh chieftain's stronghold and possesses most remarkable interior decoration.
